Our ability to overcome and heal from any affliction is not only possible; it is probable if the laws of healing are engaged. All our happiness, all our health, and all our creativity comes from within us. The source of all transformation originates from within. Our human, intellectual mind wants us to believe that we need something external to change a condition. We become submissive to this belief and accept it, denying our own power. The fact is we have everything we need within us and we can access our internal power with persistent effort. This is really important when you want to bring change to a particular aspect of your health. The first step is becoming aware we have the power to facilitate healing within ourselves with the proper use of our mind and the second step is actively engaging with that power.
I am not saying this is always easy. It is not, but it is possible, and I want you to contemplate what possibilities are lying dormant within you just waiting to be tapped into. Our Divine Self is whole and complete. As a newborn babe we were connected to our Divine Self before the world told us who we should be, what we should think, and how we should act. Our Divine Self is never sick or afraid. It knows only love and peace and joy. So, how does a person access their own internal power, their creative life force energy, and facilitate the healing they long for?
A great starting place is working with a process called denials and affirmations. I first learned of this when I studied the writings of H. Emilie Cady, a homeopathic physician. She treated her patients both physically and spiritually. She used denials and affirmations as a method to help clear erroneous thoughts from people’s minds that caused or contributed to physical maladies by replacing them with affirmations of Truth regardless of appearances or conditions to the contrary. There is great power in the spoken word, and when the words are infused with Truth, they will bring forth the healing that is desired in the heart.
Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Well, in theory it is simple. In reality, it requires discipline and persistent, continuous action until the thing you desire comes to pass. Using this practice a few times for the purpose of healing and then quitting will not manifest the results you desire. The condition didn’t manifest overnight, and it is not going to just disappear overnight without making lasting changes in the thought processes. However, repeating a denial followed by an affirmation over and over helps to retrain the thinking part of our minds that has been immersed in false beliefs and misconceptions about the self. Denials cleanse the mind just as a detox cleanses the body.
Affirmations are one of the most powerful medicines you can employ. Affirmations build up one’s strength and courage in oneself from the inside out. They refocus the mind from dwelling on sorrows and pain to focusing on what is true and good and positive. Affirmations are good for individuals who suffer from anxiety and low self-esteem. They also work well for those who have become passive in their daily life. Affirmations always follow a statement of denial.
What is a Denial?
A denial is a statement denying something has power over you. It can be a thought, a person, a feeling, or a circumstance in your life. Denials are used to neutralize thoughts of negativity and doubt. A denial doesn’t necessarily mean something does not exist. A statement of denial denies that something has power over you, that it is stronger than you, or that it has control over you. You can deny things like fear, pain, old age, or sickness to have any power over you. If your mind was a blackboard and negative self-talk was written all over it, a denial would act as an eraser, wiping away the false beliefs accumulated in this lifetime and clearing the mental space they previously occupied. That is the purpose of using a statement of denial.
What is an Affirmation?
An affirmation is a statement that positively asserts the Truth about something, even in the face of evidence to the contrary. It is a positive statement made in the present tense and grounded in Truth. You do not need to know how the positive change is going to come about, you just need to believe with faith that the good you desire will manifest for you. There is much power to be released in words of Truth that are spoken with great faith. Affirmations give us strength and align our minds with the Truth of our being. When we align our hearts and minds with Truth and when we desire only good to manifest, the physical body will reflect that Truth back in the form of balance, harmony, health, strength, and vitality. Affirmations have been used by millions of people, from athletes to school-age children.
Words have power. And yet so many people use them indiscriminately. Become conscious of the words you speak and intend to make changes in your health by affirming the positive. Step by step, affirmation by affirmation, you can open yourself up to greater good in your health and in your life. If this process is new to you, please reach out to me for support.
