I am sure you have heard the phrase “Seeing is believing.” We automatically accept what we see in the physical world without ever questioning it. There is a belief that if we see it, then it must be true. I would like to invite you to open your mind a little bit more and consider that what you cannot see with your physical eyes but can see with your mind’s eye is just as real. You cannot imagine something that isn’t real or something you do not have the ability to create. Our minds are that powerful. And since we are body, mind, and spirit, we can affect our entire being with the proper use of our mind. According to speaker, best-selling author, and transformational life coach Mary Morrissey, “We do not have eyes because we can see. We have eyes because our spirit has the capacity for seeing.”
Using your imagination, the following thought concepts can be applied to any area of your life, including your health and wellness. A good starting point is to decide what it is that you really want for your health. Is it to lose weight, improve digestion, feel lighter, breather easier, have more flexibility and strength, be pain free, have healthy clear skin, live well into your 90’s and longer, heal a chronic condition, or something else? Believe that it is possible to have what you want if you are willing to do the work necessary to bring it into manifestation. Quoting Walt Disney, “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
The next step is to create a clear image of yourself in your mind’s eye with the state of health you desire or the image of what it looks like having resolved a current health challenge you are facing. Use your imagination to see yourself as already having what you desire. What does it look like? How does it feel to you? What does creating this healthy image do for you and your life? How is your life better by accomplishing this health goal or manifesting your desire?
The third step is to bring your emotions into your visualization process. Imagine what it would feel like to accomplish your health goal or heal a condition that has been plaguing your body. How would feel if you got up out of bed every day with a joy-filled heart instead of feeling down and depressed? What it feel like to be able to eat the foods you enjoy without experiencing digestive distress? Spend a few minutes every day holding the image you created of a strong, balanced, healthy body and feel what that would feel like to you. When your mind wants to wander to the present condition you are feeling, just release the image and return your focus to your new image of self. Learn to put your mind in harmony with the good you desire for your health and your life.
The fourth step is to be open and receptive to the guidance you will receive. It might be to change your diet or contact a different health care professional. You might be guided to make changes in your personal life or images of an old situation might come to mind that have played a role in the original manifestation of the problem you want to transform. Our bodies never lie to us. In fact, I always tell people our bodies keep us honest. They speak subtly to us at first, but if we choose to ignore the early signals, the body raises its volume in the form of symptoms to catch our attention.
We are conditioned to always focus on what is wrong with us, what needs to be “fixed” or “cured.” I am asking you to shift your focus to an image of yourself having already received the healing you desire or the change in your health condition that brings you a greater feeling of ease and well-being. Energy follows thought, so every time you focus on the good, you are using your mind like a magnet to attract more good to you. If you want healing, by focusing on the end result you want, you are magnetizing with your mind that which best would serve you in achieving the results you desire.
You are also holding an image of health for yourself so you can consciously align your actions with the results you desire. When you have a clear image of what you want, take time to evaluate what you are currently doing and ask yourself if your actions are in alignment with the healing you desire or if you are sabotaging yourself in some manner. You cannot expect to lose weight if you are going to fill yourself up with foods that are known to cause weight gain. Chronic infections will not clear up if you continue to eat foods high in sugar. Headaches will not go away if you insist on putting artificial sweeteners and preservatives into your body. Inflammation will not diminish if you are not addressing the underlying causes. Some of it is common sense that you can figure out on your own if you take the time to honestly evaluate your choices.
We have been programmed to believe we are victims of disease and suffering, and that we are also victims of circumstance and genetics and just have to make the best of it. I do not share that belief AND epigenetics has taken the place of the gene theory. I am not saying that health issues are easy to deal with. Some aren’t. I have been witness to many healing journeys of people who were told they had to live with a condition or that they needed to be on drugs for the rest of their life. They were unwilling to accept their “fate” and became determined to overcome it. It is time to let go of the old paradigms of victim-hood and managing symptoms to embrace the powerful beings we are, acknowledge the body’s innate ability to heal and restore itself, and make better, conscious choices for healing that are life-giving and supportive of the body’s innate wisdom.
