“The spirit is life. The mind is builder. The physical is the result.” Edgar Cayce
Have you stopped to consider all the functions your body performs every single day without any intervention on your part? We do not have to direct any internal process that goes on. Most people never think about all the functions necessary to keep us alive and well. As long as there is flow in the body everything works together synergistically as it should. Kidneys filter, blood flows, food digests, nutrients are absorbed, and the immune system maintains a line of defense against microbes we are exposed to. The heart beats continually and new cells are made to replace old worn out ones. We can hear, see, talk, and think without having to consciously make it happen.
The healing process is the same way. We do not make the body heal. Healing is a process that goes far beyond our human understanding. What we do know is that we can provide a fertile ground when healing needs to take place and we can do things to support the process each step of the way. Healing is required whenever there is a block in the flow that causes an imbalance somewhere in our being. While the “blockage” may manifest in the physical, the origin may be in our thought processes or even our emotional state.
In Chinese medicine, acupuncture is used to as a tool to assist the body in restoring the flow of “qi” or life energy throughout the body. It is believed that a blockage in the flow of qi eventually manifests in the physical as an illness or disease process. Fine needles are used to stimulate specific acupuncture points to correct imbalances in the flow of qi throughout the meridians, or energetic pathways, in the body.
In natural healing, we use homeopathics and botanical tinctures to support the body in restoring flow. It may be support for the kidneys that filter our blood or the liver that detoxifies substances. For others it means cleansing the colon of fecal matter that has been building up. Then there is support for the digestive system when it shows signs of not properly breaking down food and absorbing nutrients. Sometimes tinctures can provide support to improve function in an organ or system of the physical body. Another way to restore flow is working with flower essences to help clear emotional energy that has gotten stuck.
Flower essences were developed by Edward Bach, an English homeopath. He believed the dew on the flower petals retained the healing properties of the plant. Flower essences are used therapeutically for emotional and spiritual conditions. They are believed to help release energetic blockages within the flow of the human energy field, specifically those created from negative emotions and moods.
The right choices in food can also go a long way to restoring flow if used properly. We know that poor food choices create many problems in the body when ingested, but at the same time nature has provided many of the necessary nutrients in whole foods that are used for healing. It is a matter of knowing what foods are the right foods for you. Natural whole foods and plants carry the vitality and energetic frequencies that healing remedies have been made from for thousands of years. Learning how to eat better and work with nature’s pharmacy is one of the ways to restore flow and balance within our bodies.
There is an interconnectedness between our body, mind, and spirit.
Our body is a vehicle for experiencing the physical world around us and the means of expressing our spirit, which dwells within. Whether you call it qi, life force, or spirit, there is an energy that flows in and through us, expressing as us every minute of the day. As long as this energy is flowing freely, unimpeded, there is harmony within. Without this energy, our bodies would be lifeless masses of dead matter!
While the source of our life energy comes from Spirit, we consciously and unconsciously regulate it with our minds. We develop perceptions of our world from the experiences we have. We create our beliefs from our perceptions and then we live from the set of beliefs we have created. If our beliefs are grounded in Truth, we will put ourselves in harmony with the flow of life. This in turn, creates an energetic flow within our physical bodies.
Conversely, if we create and live from judgments and limiting beliefs, we may find ourselves developing imbalances over time in our bodies as a result of constriction in the flow within our energy field. This could be something as simple as tight muscles to health problems more complex like poor circulation, sluggish digestion, heart disease, immune issues, and more.
The key is to understand the connection between our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves. Our minds play a major role in the health of our physical bodies. We are either creating health and harmony or we are creating conditions that cause blockages and imbalances in the flow of energy throughout our bodies with EVERY thought. This does not mean we should judge ourselves or shame ourselves if we are facing a health challenge. Judgment and shaming only create more problems. When faced with a health challenge it is important to remember that it is a natural consequence resulting from an imbalance or lack of harmony in our our thoughts and emotions.
When we recognize that we have the ability to change what we are thinking or feeling at any given time, and we begin to take greater responsibility for our health. We learn to take ownership for the meaning we give everything and how we interpret our experiences. We are the authors of our lives. If the script isn’t working well, we have the freedom to rewrite it, thus creating greater flow that feeds our life force, brings harmony to our minds, and ultimately reflects in better physical health. To restore flow is to restore harmony within. When harmony is restored, the body becomes a fertile ground for true and lasting healing.
