When faced with a health challenge, it is a natural response to look for a remedy to alleviate the pain or discomfort of what is going on in the body. There is nothing wrong with that. No one should suffer if there is a way to get relief. Dealing with pain alone can drain you of vital energy. Sometimes it is necessary to seek relief from an external source so we can resume our daily activities or take care of our families. Beyond attending to the obvious, at some point we need to recognize that our soul is calling out to us on some level of consciousness with a deeper need for healing. We may blame external circumstances but ultimately the need is internal within our own being. Nothing outside us can heal the wounds that fester within. Anything external is merely putting a band-aid on the problem only to have to deal with it at a later time.
It doesn’t matter what the label is for the condition: diabetes, heart disease, cancer, hormonal imbalances, migraines, digestive issues, anxiety attacks, high blood pressure, or auto-immune disorders. These health conditions do not just happen to us because someone in our family has suffered from it. They manifest as a result of many contributing factors that have created a fertile ground for the health condition to recreate itself in our own bodies. These factors include but are not limited to learned behaviors, limiting beliefs, lifestyle, negative thinking, and dietary habits that we have repeated in our own lives. They can also happen because we have deeply internalized the erroneous belief in our subconscious mind that we are destined to suffer from the same malady because we are in the same gene pool, which we assume will make us victims of our genetics.
If you want to get insight into some of the limiting beliefs that you may have internalized that are affecting your health and well-being, become aware of how you perceive the world around you. What we perceive outside of ourselves, our projections, reflects what is going on within our own consciousness.
We are the ones who give definition and meaning to everything we see. Our bodies mirror back to us what we think and feel about ourselves and how we perceive ourselves in relationship to the world around us. The goal is to become aware of our projections and then evolve the perceptions we have of ourselves and others. It is human nature to project negative qualities onto others until we are willing to own them within ourselves.
Take a few moments and stand in front of mirror. What do you see when you look into your own eyes? What are thoughts that pop into your mind? What image of yourself do you see being mirrored back to you? If you find yourself standing in judgment of yourself, not liking what you see, know that you have the power to change your perception. It is not so much changing yourself as it is changing how you see yourself. There are no limits to our perceptions except those we ascribe to out of a conditioned, limited way of seeing. Because of our habitual way of seeing ourselves, we may fail to recognize that the very thing we are trying to avoid looking at holds the key to our healing.
Every health challenge presents the opportunity to transform a part of ourselves into something bigger and better. Our job is to open our hearts and minds to greater possibilities for ourselves than that which we have accepted as our limits up to this point. The meaning of a health issue may not always be clear or obvious in the beginning of your quest for truth, but over time, with some self-reflection, a greater understanding of the thoughts and perceptions underlying a condition will come to the surface for healing. The one necessary pre-requisite is to fully, completely, and unconditionally see yourself with eyes of love right where you are, with whatever your challenges may be. The goal is not to change yourself but rather change the way you perceive yourself.
Look into the mirror again, not to pass judgment, but to recognize the judgment you may hold against yourself. Judgment sabotages our ability to feel whole within ourselves and thus requires healing. Healing comes when there is a change in our perception. When we can see ourselves and others with eyes of love and accept unconditionally what we see with our eyes, we can begin to believe we are good enough right here and right now. That is the beginning of healing the self from the inside out. If you are ready to truly heal and not just suppress another symptom, or accept a disease process as normal, please reach out to me.
