Awareness as the First Step
“For all healing, mental or material, is attuning each atom of the body, each reflex of the brain forces, to the awareness of the divine that lies within each atom, each cell of the body.” Edgar Cayce
Our bodies at birth are 90% water. As an adult, our bodies are 70% water. It is common knowledge that we cannot survive for long without water. Water not only hydrates the cells in our body but it is also required for cell-to-cell communication. If you are chronically dehydrated, the fluid between the cells can become bogged down with toxins and your body will not function as well.
Science has determined that water also has the ability to copy and memorize information. Homeopathy is based on this premise as it proposes that the greater the dilution of an original substance with water, the greater its effectiveness in the body. The information copied to the water during the dilution and succussing process is used to cancel out information of the symptoms from an original poison or toxin.
In a similar fashion, we have the capacity to store a tremendous amount of information within our cells because our bodies are 70% water and more. This information comes not only from the food we eat, the beverages we drink, the air that we breathe, and the drugs and other medicines we take; it also comes from the thoughts we think and the words we speak. If we could see the impact on our bodies from everything we expose them to and everything we project out into the world, we would feel compelled to make better choices.
A Japanese scientist, Masaru Emoto, did some amazing research with the impact concentrated thought had on water molecules. Using high speed photography, he photographed changes that took place in frozen water crystals when specific thoughts were directed towards them. What he discovered and documented was truly amazing. When water was exposed to kind, loving thoughts, beautiful, symmetric crystals formed. When water was exposed to anger or harsh words, broken, deformed crystals formed instead. When Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony or Mozart’s 40th Symphony were played, delicate, elegantly formed crystals appeared. Emoto discovered that positive, uplifting words had a positive effect on crystal formations while negativity and harsh words had the power to destroy the crystals.
Words have a profound influence on the way we think and feel. People in good health are generally people in good spirits with positive attitudes and kind, loving words for others. The scientific research and documentation of Emoto went on to demonstrate that love and gratitude are fundamental to the phenomenon of life and all of nature as demonstrated in the perfect crystal formations. The energy of human consciousness has an effect on water, thus it has an effect on the health of our bodies. Moment to moment our emotions and feelings are contributing to a state of health in our bodies or a state of dis-ease. Which will you choose…feelings of love and gratitude or feelings of anger, criticism, and negativity?
Every person is the architect of their mind. We choose every minute of every day what we want to believe and focus on. Taking notice of our thoughts requires effort and awareness. There is an invisible field of energy around us that conforms to our thoughts. It does not care what we think. It just bends to our way of thinking. To gain control over our thoughts, we need to become aware of what we are thinking. This takes practice but it can be done!
Four Stages of Awareness
The first stage of awareness is defined by the belief that everything is happening to us. We feel we have no control over events or circumstances and acquiesce to external conditions, believing we are the victim of circumstance. It is the basis of a victim mentality in which we feel we have no control over what is happening to us. This stage is most prevalent in the unaware mind. It is from this level of awareness that we form beliefs about aging, sickness, and disease.
The second level of awareness occurs when we move from believing that things happen to us to the belief that things are happening by us. We start to think we may have some power to effect change or control our destiny. It is from this level of awareness that we try to manipulate our health, our relationships, and the world around us. We come from the belief that if we just try hard enough or endure long enough, we can make things different.
The third level of awareness is a more expanded view where we develop the belief that life is happening through us. We move from believing we have all the power to believing we are a vessel for power to move through us. At this level of awareness, we recognize there is something bigger than us that has power, but we still see it as something apart from us.
The fourth level of awareness is reached when we become aware that life is happening as us. We recognize that we are one with the source of all life and become co-creators with what is possible for us. It is from this level of awareness that we can access and align ourselves with the source of all healing. We can harness the power of our minds from this level of awareness and intentionally align our thoughts with thoughts of healing and wholeness. Energy must follow thought, so when we align our thoughts with the Source of all life, healing becomes a natural course to follow.
